Our Process

How It Works

From application to lasting professional relationships, here's exactly what to expect when you join Common Initiative.

Mentoring works when it is intentional. At Common Initiative, every match is the product of careful thought, not an algorithm or a quick keyword search. We take the time to understand who you are, what you are studying or where you have built your career, and where you want to go next, because the right pairing is what turns a few hours a month into a relationship that shapes a life.

Our program is structured but never rigid. There are clear stages, agreed expectations, and a team behind the scenes making sure both mentees and mentors feel supported at every point. What that structure is really protecting is the relationship itself: the conversations, the introductions, the moments of honest advice that are difficult to manufacture but easy to lose without a framework around them.

The six steps below walk you through exactly what happens from the moment you express interest to the day the formal program ends and your place in our alumni community begins. Whether you are a student preparing to launch your career or a professional ready to share what you have learned, this is the path we will walk together.
