Dignity, opportunity, andessential support.
We are a benevolent organisation dedicated to relieving poverty, isolation, and distress for refugee and immigrant adults across Australia.
Rebuilding lives in a new land.
Arriving in Australia as a refugee or immigrant often means leaving everything behind. Without local networks, recognized qualifications, or financial stability, many face severe isolation, poverty, and systemic barriers to entering the workforce.
Common Initiative exists to bridge this gap. We provide holistic, benevolent relief—from funding essential medical care and accommodation to delivering professional mentorship and educational scholarships.
Four pillars of comprehensive support
We address both immediate crisis needs and long-term systemic barriers to ensure our community members can rebuild their lives with dignity.
Education Funding
We fund educational courses, school fees, tuition, and workshops to increase academic outcomes, improve workforce skills, and provide pathways out of poverty.
Career & Employment
We operate professionally facilitated career readiness programs, job-seeking assistance, and industry mentorships to increase employment outcomes and financial stability.
Essential Care
We fund crucial counselling, essential medical care, and urgent accommodation needs to relieve homelessness, psychological distress, and profound isolation.
Benevolent Relief
We undertake specialized projects and services that directly relieve suffering, misfortune, and poverty in the lives of vulnerable individuals across regional and remote communities.
