The biggest barrier to employment for newly arrived adults is rarely a lack of skill or willingness to work. It is a lack of local context: understanding Australian workplace culture, navigating the ATS (Applicant Tracking Systems), and having a professional network.
As an industry mentor, you act as a cultural translator and a professional advocate. A few hours of your time each month can mean the difference between a skilled adult driving an Uber and re-entering their chosen profession.
Your role as a mentor

The Commitment
Time
Approximately 2-4 hours per month. Meetings can be virtual or in-person based on mutual preference.
Duration
A formal commitment of 6 months, ensuring enough time to build trust and achieve concrete goals.
